The world is now floating with the entry of more new technologies in all the fields. All the information required is just a click away. This is made possible through the International Network more specifically called Internet. All the news in one part of the world can be had with in a fraction of second on another part through Internet. The internet connection may be of one of the following types:
- DSL
- Cable
- Dial-Up
The DSL and Cable connection of the Internet is more common in the Urban and sub-urban areas where the internet can be accessed with good amount of speed. The traditional access of the internet is through Dial-Up connection. The advantage of having Dial-Up than the DSL and Cable system is that the economy factor is less in Dial up whereas the DSL and cable system are more expensive.
What is Satellite Internet?
The disadvantage of DSL and Cable system is that they cannot be used on the rural and remote areas. DSL and Dial UP are almost similar technology but the DSL is dependent on the distance to be covered. When the internet connection required areas is far from the Telephone Central Office, then the feasibility of having DSL connection is low. There is another lesser access method of internet called “SATELLITE INTERNET”.
Satellite Internet is an internet connection that fully dependent on the space instead of terrestrial wires like DSL, Cable or Dial Up connection. Satellite Internet does not require any wire connection to access internet. It accesses the internet through the space by the satellite connections. Satellite Internet Connection is a gift to the people who live in rural and remote locations where the connection required is far from the Telephone tower.
How Satellite Internet works?
Satellite Internet needs right equipment to work efficiently. It works through the Satellite Internet Receivers. A major part of the internet connections rely on the terrestrial communications. In a satellite internet the signals are much stronger than other types of internet connections and they are able to take away these signals from the provider to the satellite and back into the computer. To achieve a downlink operation, dial up connection is required. Uplink is possible in satellite internet where the internet signals are sending back up in to the space.
The Satellites are capable of sending and receiving the messages through space using the Electromagnetic Spectrum. The ranges at which the signals are carried to and fro into the space (Uplink) are less than 27.5 GHz to 30.0 GHz. The range required for the downlink operation falls in the spectrum of about 17.7 to 20.2 GHz.
Getting connection for Satellite internet:
To get connected with satellites do not require any wire but satellite dish for a two way data communication is required. The upload speed is about one-tenth of the 500 kbps download speed. The speed of the Satellite internet is about ten times faster than the cable and dial up system of connections. The two-way satellite internet connection requires following hard wares:
- A two foot by three foot Dish
- Two number of modems for Uplink and Downlink
- Coaxial cables for connection between Modem and Dish
The important step in getting connected with the satellite is to have proper planning about the installation. It is must to have a clear view to the South direction. The reason behind this is that the orbiting satellites are over the equator area. Therefore, the south direction must in clear view to get connected for satellite internet. Two ways Satellite internet uses INTERNET PROTOCOL (IP) multicasting technology which proves that over 5000 channels can be transmitted through a single satellite. If you are living in any rural or remote areas, then the best way to get connected with the world is through Satellite Internet.
